To play this Open Championship course is a fantastic experience in terms of testing your game to the maximum and following the greats of golf over the Royal Birkdale links. Brian Hodgkinson the club professional has been attached to the club since 1980 and Head Professional since 2002
Chris Whittle, Course Manager, who joined the club in 1994 having supervised the Muirfield links for six years, leads the green keeping staff.
Unless personally introduced as a member's guest, visitors must make a reservation and obtain a starting time prior to arrival. Reservations may be made by telephone, letter, fax or email to the Secretary's Office. Handicap Certificates will be required from all visiting golfers. Whilst visitors are encouraged, they must respect restricted tee-off times. Corporate, Society and Prestige golf days are programmed to take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Corporate/Society Golf Days
Corporate/Society golf days can be designed to meet a wide range of requirements for groups of 16-72 golfers. We are pleased to offer facilities for reception, lunch, golf and dinner specifically to suit the needs of individual organizations and groups.
The Club will be happy to provide you with a personalised voucher for a round of golf, which will make an ideal and extremely welcome gift for any enthusiastic golfer. We can send it to you or direct to the recipient with any message that you require. Please contact the Secretary's office to discuss your requirements
Private tuition is available from the Professional or his Assistants, which can easily be arranged. The Professional can also quote for video tuition and golf clinics. The Pro Shop is well stocked for all your golfing needs.

The Royal Birkdale Golf Club offers you the opportunity to have an evening meal following golf in our 'Bistro', situated in the Longhurst Room overlooking the iconic 18th hole. We offer a relaxed, informal bistro menu of the highest quality using locally sourced ingredients, freshly prepared in our kitchen.
Bookings for the Bistro are required in advance with this option being offered between 6.00pm and 10.00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays during the season - last orders for food will be taken at 8.30pm.

ON THE COURSE – Please wear smart golf clothing - this is essential. Golf shoes are to be worn and any shorts should be tailored.
LEAVING THE COURSE – Please remove hats and waterproof clothing in the locker rooms, as they are not allowed in the main Clubhouse. Cleaned golf shoes may be worn in the Spike Bar.
IN THE CLUBHOUSE – Please note smart casual/golf dress is essential.
Gentlemen require a jacket and tie in the Main Dining Room only, unless attending a function with more formal dress stipulated.
Our general principle is that Members, their Guests and Visitors are smartly attired on and off the links.
Inappropriate clothing, for example: blue denim jeans, tracksuits, cargo pants, uncovered t-shirts, flip-flops or similar are not permitted.
MOBILE PHONES - We all appreciate that mobile phones are silent in the Clubhouse; they may be answered and used discreetly in the Golfers’ Corridor and Locker Rooms.
Use of a ride-on buggy is restricted to visitors who have a genuine incapacity to play golf unless aided by the use of the buggy. Please see attached buggy policy for details:
